Cannabidiol (CBD) is a compound known as a cannabinoid that is uniquely found in hemp. There are over 100 other cannabinoids that also come from hemp.
CBD may produce mild side effects for some individuals. This depends on frequency of use, dose, type of CBD and genetic uniqueness of those taking it.
Hemp and marijuana are two different subspecies of the Cannabis Sativa L. plant. The major difference is that marijuana contains significant amounts of another cannabinoid THC, whereas in hemp theres next to none (< 0.2%). THC is the cannabinoid which produces a high.
CBD is widely considered to be non-psychoactive, although it produces subtle alterations to mood. However, it does not produce any significant alterations to your state of awareness or consciousness.
Psychoactive substances tend to be addictive. CBD is widely considered to be non-psychoactive, despite gentle mood enhancing effects. In a comprehensive 2017 report, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared that: “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential.”
CBD does not get you high, is non-addictive and possesses diverse beneficial properties. Substances with beneficial properties that are non-addictive and non-psychoactive are legal.
We ensure both the products we create and curate contain CBD that has been extracted by supercritical CO2 extraction. This is considered the gold standard method, as it enables the extraction of many other beneficial plant compounds from cannabis and hemp whilst minimising residual impurities. These are known as full spectrum extracts and contain other cannabinoids (not THC), terpenes, flavinoids and phytochemicals. When these chemicals remain together they provide an enhanced experience known as the entourage effect.
Everyone has a different genetic makeup and endocannabinoid system, therefore theres no one or optimal dose. A good way of finding your sweet spot is to start low and gradually and systematically increase whilst tracking your responses to the oil.
Always consult your GP as your primary resource, particularly when considering medications. CBD may affect the way other medications are metabolised by the liver, and therefore impact their efficacy.
